It was all worth it as we had the outcome we hoped for. I want to thank everyone who braved the elements to come out to vote, no matter who you supported. Election Day is one of the best days of the year for the community to come together, as friends on both sides get to reconnect. It's clear that Jim has a lot of friends and supporters in the ward. I hope we can all work together toward common goals as we seat new aldermen in Wards 1 and 3. I also hope that Jim's supporters will share their thoughts on issues we will face in the coming year. I always want to hear from those who have differing points of view. I take all thoughtful input seriously.
I specifically want to tip my cap to my opponent Jim Nottelmann for running a vigorous and honorable campaign. He and his team worked hard for his candidacy. He deserves respect for running a good race.
Finally, a big THANK YOU to those who worked hard for me and/or for the outcome on the issues we mutually care about. I don't want to name names for fear I might miss someone, but your attendance at meetings, your e-mails, your word-of-mouth support, and your physical presence at the polls meant an awful lot. With your amazing help, we put up a margin of victory that sends a strong message to ALL the elected leadership. Let's hope they are listening.
